Baxley Funeral Home announces the passing and celebration of life services for Mr. Dennis Copeland, age 32 of Baxley who departed this life on Saturday, December 7th, 2024.

Celebration of Life services for Mr. Copeland will be held Saturday, December 14th, 2024 at 1pm at First African Missionary Baptist Church located at 154 Comas Street Baxley, GA.

Public viewing will take place on Saturday, December 14th, 2024 at noon, one hour before the services at First African Missionary Baptist Church.

Interment will follow at Miles Cemetery located on Hutcheson Road Baxley, Georgia. The cemetery is located in the lane on the left beside the white mobile home. Use address 503 Hutcheson Rd for GPS.

A repast will be held at First African Missionary Baptist Church Social Hall following burial.

Dennis James Copeland was born on April 29, 1992, to Lennis Sanders and Carolyn Copeland. He was educated in the Appling County School System and graduated from Appling County High School in 2010. During his high school career, he was a stellar athlete in football and track and field. After high school he continued his education by completing Job Corps where he received his welding certification.

Dennis was employed with Signal Energy as a Foreman/Supervisor. He was a mentor to many at his job and supervised over forty people even at his young age. He excelled in the solar industry and formed strong relationships with many of his coworkers over the years.

Dennis had a lovable personality and generous spirit and was loved by his family and friends. Dennis left an indelible mark on everyone he encountered. He enjoyed making people laugh and telling a good joke. He was an avid collector of shoes, and he made sure every outfit he wore had shoes to match. His presence would light up a room and it was never a dull moment with him. Dennis loved his dog, Rex, and considered Rex as his “right hand man.” Dennis had a loving and special bond with his mother and will be sorely missed by his family, fiancée, friends, and coworkers.

Dennis departed this life on December 7, 2024. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Henry Ryals, Sr., Charlie Mae Ryals, Leroy Sanders, Leola Sanders, Ira Thomas, Ethel Thomas, James Sanders, and Aretha Sanders.

Lasting and loving memories of Dennis will forever rest in the hearts of his devoted mother: Carolyn Copeland; father: Lennis Sanders; fiancée: Ciara Schrader; bonus daughter: Kaybriegh Schrader; siblings: Kelly Sanders (Angela), Christopher Copeland, Delvin Sanders, Dallas Sanders, Romeo Sanders, Stormy Sanders, and Ryland Sanders; uncles: Henry Ryals, Jr. (Kathy), Charles Ryals (Sarah), Chip Ryals (Yvette), Lee Willis Sanders (Linda), and Leon Sanders; aunts: Mattie Crawford, Kristy Bennett (Reuben), Lisa Stevens, Renee Lewis (O’Neal), Shalon Sanders, and Felicia Cray; nephews: Kelly Sanders II and Micah Sanders; close friends: Marquis Harris, Ashton Baxley, Derek Dasher, Keyuana Williams, and Jadon Harris; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
