Baxley Funeral home announces funeral services for Mrs. Clynell Bell, held Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Mizpah Baptist Church with Pastor James Carlylye officiating.

For God so loved the world He Gave….among His abundant gifts was the gift of a beautiful baby girl born on August 29, 1930 to the parents of David and Janie G. Anderson Jackson of the Blarney Community. This child they named Clynell; a unique name for a unique person. Clynell grew up in the knowledge of Christ and joined the Mizpah Baptist Church at an early age. As an active member of the church, she became involved with the establishment of the first usher board where she served as the president for many years.

Clynell attended the Baxley Training School graduating in 1948. After graduation she attended Pain College in Augusta, Georgia and received a nursing degree in 1951. After licensing as a Practical Nurse she came to work at Appling General Hospital, where she spent forty-two years caring for the sick and those in need while working as floor nurse and eventually as charge duty nurse.

In 1953, Clynell found love and married Lonza Bell. To that union three children were born, Larry (Debra), Sumter, SC; Diane (Rodney) Maxwell, Baxley, GA; and Michael (Gail), Bluffton, SC. She is preceded in death by husband, Lonza and son, Larry.

Clynell retired from Appling General Hospital in 1993. Being unable to “sit still” after retirement, she cose to stay busy both mentally and physically. She completed classes in Peoples Laws and basic use of computers. She also returned to work part-time back as an Intravenous Nurse for several insurance companies and as office nurse for Dr. Thomas Williams, Urologist, and Dr. Cennerly, county medical examiner. She also worked part-time as a school nurse in the local elementary school.

Clynell was hardworking, loving and a true woman of strength. She was a clear thinker and enjoyed giving, baking, and especially fishing.

In addition to her children, she leaves to mourn eight grand children, David (Inez) Bell of Ohio, Christopher Bell of Sumter, SC, Lawrence (Christina) Frederick of Baxley, GA, Sonja Maxwell of Newton, GA, Kim (Horace ) Roberts of Douglasville, Ga, Rodney Maxwell, Jr. of Baxley, Ga, Justin (Katherine) Bell of Rock Hill, SC and Bryson Bell of Bluffton, SC. She also leaves a sister Lorene Jackson of Baxley, GA and a brother Donald (Ellen Faye) Jackson of Rivera Beach, FL. In addition, she leaves nine great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
